Our New Collab!
Cob x PLOP Residency
In celebration of Cob Gallery’s 10 year anniversary, PLOP are collaborating with Cob to relaunch the residency programme this summer. Together, we will roll out four ‘one month’ residencies and will be hosting 3 artists per month in Cob’s newly renovated studios in Camden, London. That means free art studios and mentorship for 12 artists this year.
Our co-hosts
Cob Gallery was established in 2011 and focuses their program on multi disciplinary, London based and emerging artistic talent. Continuing the original conception as an artist led project space, the gallery maintains a culture of close collaboration and mutual support between makers and curators, offering an inclusive and nourishing platform. Oli Epp, the founder of PLOP, bought his first sculpture from Cob gallery in 2018 and maintains a close friendship with co-Director Cassie Beadle.
As co-hosts, Cob will provide brand new studios spaces and artistic support during the residency. Together, we will arrange studio visits, tutorials and external mentorship from working artists and industry professionals. There will also be an end of residency exhibition, hosted at Cob Gallery, which is an optional opportunity for artists who want to showcase their work made during the residency.
Due to the pandemic, this year’s residency programme is for UK based artists only. However, in 2022, we hope to relaunch PLOP to international artists.
The Residency
The Studios
Each artist will receive a a 12m2 (approx.) space in Cob Gallery’s newly-renovated studios in Camden, London. There will be six partitioned walls, which are movable, making the internal structure of studio room flexible, as well as being used for interesting presentation set ups.

Cathrin Hoffmann's Story
What connections did you make whilst taking part in the residency?
I would say at least 20, with whom I am still friends with and in constant contact today. I also met a handful of great collectors that I am also still on friendly terms. The same goes for gallery directors and owners, as I said, I was put in touch with PUBLIC gallery, who then offered me my very first solo show in London, which eventually led to a friendship with the same visions and ideas for collaboration in the future.
End of Residency Show
There will be an evening with drinks at the end of each residency for the artists to showcase their work to friends of the programme.
This is an optional opportunity for artists to showcase the work they have made during their residency and a chance to meet other artists, curators, galleries and collectors in London who are invited to the opening.
“The residency was a fun combination of having an awesome studio, seeing provocative work at different galleries, connecting with other artists and curators, and having time to explore the robust cityscape that London has to offer.”
